Phi Coefficient Calculator
Phi coefficient is used to measure the strength of association between two nominal variables. The value of phi ($\phi$) statistic satisfies the condition $0\leq \phi \leq 1$.
- $\phi$ close to 0 indicate that there is a weak association between the two variables
- $\phi$ close to 1 indicate that there is a strong association between the two variables.
Phi Coefficient formula:
$$ \begin{aligned} \phi &= \sqrt{\frac{\chi^2}{n}} \end{aligned} $$
where
- $n$ : Total Sample size
- $\phi$ : phi coefficient
